Case Study: Diverse Energy Systems
Building a $55M Energy Services Company From Zero
The Challenge
In 2012, an experienced group of oil and gas executives set out to build a competitive alternative to legacy energy services corporations — fast. Diverse Energy Systems was launched to serve North American shale play operators with a turn-key, integrated product and services offering.
My Role
As VP of Sales & Marketing, I built the commercial engine from scratch: recruiting and developing 24 sales and marketing professionals, designing the marketing platform, and launching the product portfolio.
What We Built
Over three years, we developed seven product lines comprising 25 unique products — storage tanks, artificial lift systems, vapor recovery, power generation, gas processing, measurement equipment, and pump systems — and expanded the sales platform globally across four continents.
The Outcome
When oil prices collapsed to ~$35/barrel in 2015, the market took a hit. The company was ultimately sold. But the core achievement stands: a fully operational, multi-product energy services company — built from nothing, competing with industry giants, and generating $55M in annual revenue within three years.
